An
educational concert exploring the colorful and dramatic 500-year history of
mariachi music. From its roots in the Spanish Renaissance -- through political
and artistic upheaval, to its current position poised to become an internationally
recognized and respected, truly world-class art music -- this program will
inspire as it informs! This public concert may function independently or as
part of a residency period at academic institutions during which Mariachi
Champaña Nevín can provide expert instrumental and vocal workshops,
and Jeff Nevin, Ph.D. can offer lectures on any of the following topics:

2. Current Trends and the Future of Mariachi
3. Mariachi and Modernism: Composing in a Post-modern Multicultural Universe, or Tradition vs. Innovation
4. Trumpet Techniques of the Virtuoso Mariachi
5. Arranging Music for Mariachi
